Today I painted my dove drawings. I also painted a bit yesterday. So I’m sort of back to drawing a day, except that it’s not drawing. I’m watercoloring my sketches .. at least it’s art-related.
This is getting confusing. I just want to finish all the plates! So last month I fixed Plates 1-8, since I started this Tumblr with Plate 9.

The good thing about this drawing a day + drawing all the birds in “A Guide to the Birds of the Philippines” is that I’m getting a lot of opportunities to try out different things. Drawing straight with a pen, different pens, drawing in pencil first then in pen, pen and watercolor, and more!

Skipping around a bit now. This is what I did today. 3 birds from Plate #1.
I started this Tumblr with Plate 9, but now I want to complete Plates 1-9 as well. I already drew most of the birds from those plates before I started the Tumblr.

Now onto the Brown Doves.
I can’t make a new plate yet because I forgot to draw one of the doves from this plate. And, I can’t post the other doves because I haven’t painted them yet.
I’m going to try gouache next.

I’m still having some problems with the wings, but I think I’m getting better! I can do them without having to sketch them in pencil first!
